My Far Away Friend

Just want to say good morning
Hope your day is sunny and bright
And life is a special blessing
That with you through the night.

Each day is very special
Because of you my friend
That's why this little message
To you I'd like to send.

Thank you for your kindness
The advise you always share
And thank you for your loving ways
That makes me know you care.

Please know the feeling's mutual
I'm here for you each day
And know my thoughts are with you
Even though you're far away.

We may not see each other
Distance separates us that's true
But in my heart a special place
Remains open just for you.

Abortion banned

The first step for anti-killing the unborn babies was made. Three years ago Bush signed ban on late-term abortion. The Law for children in womb. Was it right to ban aborticide? Yes, it was. Abortion is wrong.
Never blame yourself or especially other women who think to do an abortion or give a birth to a child. There are three main reasons why some women want to make an abortion. The first one, the pregnancy is unexpected and as they think, there is no enough money to raise the child. Secondly, the man leaves the pregnant woman and she afraid to raise a child alone. The last one is when the woman was raped and she does not want to give a birth to the child of the criminal. Remember! There is an exit from each situation.
So, the main thing that links all these women is the fear of taking responsibility. The way they usually think, the birth of a child is an unsolvable problem. They forgot that the child gift from the God. From religion perspective, killing of your own child is a sin. After aborticide the guilty conscience will follow you the whole life. The psychological trauma would stay with you forever. Be sure this will leave a bad scent.
From medical perspective, once made abortion could equalize the chances to have a baby to zero. Plus, the probability of the physical problems and deceases are increasing; such as mastopathy, hormone abnormalities, dysfunction of the organism, benign and malignant tumors.
Do not you think that the unborn child also has the right to life? You yourself should decide will you save the life of your child or just kill him or her. Make a choice are you the life-taker or the life-saver. Before conclusion try to love yourself and do not be selfish.
If you in the family way spoke to relatives and keep yourself calm, then in future the child will thank and support you. As you see there is an exit from each situation. So be happy and give birth to little man.

Give children hope for tomorrow.

Everyone can give the gift of life.

Six years old Lena Chetverikova died from leukemia because she didn’t get 10 percent of blood she needed. Today in hospitals more than 70 children are waiting for their recover. But only few of them will survive as there is no enough donated blood.
In comparison with previous years the number of donors dramatically decreased. The doctor of the Republican Center of blood, Gulnar Rakhmetova, said, “Usually there are 80 people per day donating blood. It is not enough; we need at least 150 people. In Soviet time everyone was ready to give his blood to sick people at anytime. Today people became more rigid.”
During the Soviet Time blood donation was obligatory. The donors had privileges, such as paid holidays and discounts. Now the system changed. According to the Law of donor service gratuitous donors will get only 250 tenge.
Also Rakhmetova said they visit different organizations asking for help every week. And the most popular answers are people themselves have not enough blood or the blood center paid not enough money.
The honored donor, Alexander Shilo, said, “I’ve given my blood 170 times. It is impossible to agitate people to become a donor. Until a person does not face the trouble himself he will never understand that. People became cruel. Everyone lives in his own world. Everyone worries only about his health and his wallet. No one cares about someone’s health.”
A person who gives blood restores his loss after two months. Moreover giving some blood renews his organism. However not everyone’s blood is suitable, such as people who have gone through syphilis, tuberculosis and all types of hepatitis illnesses.
The most rare blood in medicine is IV rhesus- negative.
Rakhmetova said commercial organizations are hard to donate blood; where as the working class does it more willingly. Students also, have different attitudes to donation. Some universities are active, in others there are zero donators.
The assistant of the doctor, Gulnar Kassymova, said, “It is safe to give a blood. A person, giving blood, gives a life to a sick person. This is the noble thing he or she does in life.”
Any volunteers, who want to help children, can donate their blood in the Republican Center of Blood, which is located in Almaty, 1 Utepova Street, tel.: 8(3272)494604, OR, in the Bank of blood, Almaty, 146 Al-Farabi Street, tel.: 8(3272)992834.

Minors work.

Last week the police caught 120 children who worked illegally in Almaty. The half of the minors are from the CIS countries. They left their home countries in order to earn some money in Kazakhstan.
A Kyrgyzstan 13-years-old girl, Jazgul Mendybayeva, said, “I’m here with my mother, we sell the bread in different places. We earn about 11. 000 tenge per week. ”
The girl, with languishing eyes and in dirty work wear, was crying when telling her story. With her seven years of experience she pays the accommodation fee in village of Zarya-Vostok and is able to send some money to her grandmother and little brother in Kyrgyzstan.
Jazgul also said, when she earns enough money, she dreams to continue her studying at school, which she left at nine. She dreams to become a doctor and to heal her mother and relatives. However, today she is a bread winner.
At the middle of the conversation it was understandable that Jazgul was crying not because her life is difficult, though she could, but because of her unfair detention at the center. The Center of Temporally Isolation and Rehabilitation for Minors.
All these children now are in the center. Within three months the center takes care, tries to identify the child and returns him or her to the family.
The inspector of the center, Kuralai Kurazbekova, said, “The number of minors is decreasing as parents take their children back. But in some cases, when the parents refuse to take their children we have to send them to Child House.”
However, there were the cases when parents had financial problems and the Kazakhstani Government paid all transfer payments.
Also, there is a 3- years- old boy in the center, staying more than three weeks there. The center does not know the nationality and where the boy is from. Three times he was shown by “Reider”, a TV program searching people. No result.
The main explanation of minors being here in Kazakhstan is poor living conditions at home.

Parliamentary Journalism: Great Britain experience

“Without an informed citizenry, democracy is impoverished and at risk”. 1997, Bob Franklin.

On midterm break, Nailya and me participated in the master-class on Parliamentary Journalism. There were 25 journalism students and young journalists from Almaty who passed the selection part.
The initiator and organizers of the event were the British Embassy and British Counsel in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and MediaNet organization.
The trainers were three professionals with more than 17 years experience in journalism field. Tim Hartley currently is the Director of Corporate Affairs and Mass Communications for S4C, National television of Wales (Great Britain).
Dr. Kelly is coordinator of Corporate Affairs of Wales in the British Counsel (Great-Britain). And Vyacheslav Abramov is the executive director of the MediaNet in Kazakhstan.
From master-class we learned clear definition what the parliamentary journalism is, understood the mission, problems, and responsibility of the parliamentary journalists.
There were stimulating discussions about the responsibility for the political reporting and mentioned the main theoretical basis of free and accurate political reporting according to the UK experience. From UK experience it was interesting to know that in local councils (like our Akimats) the half of the 60 members are women. Whereast here we can count our women-politicians by fingers. Also in the UK the Scotland has own parliament, Wales has Assembly, NI--Assembly and London-- Assembly.
The next day we talked about the parliamentary journalism in KZ and how Kazakhstani parliament refers to their duties. The most interesting fact, as I think, that our parliament during the year did not create or initiate any law (!). Now the participants know who is our “Grey Cardinal”. In seminar were mention that usually the parliament has the days when they give interview to journalists: Wednesday--Mazhilis and Thursday—Senat. There was some helpful tips how to behave yourself during the elections. The key thing is do not forget to hear people, the voice of people.
Mostly I remembered the example with Jayne Sullivan which shows that people are power. Finally the parliamentarians gave her the permission to make injection. Yeh, people can change the mind of the politician. By the way, remember when you will cover such kind of emotional, painful, human stories do not include your emotions(!).
All in all, the presentations were very stimulating and the tasks were very interesting. During the training there were free coffee and lunch:-). All participants got certificates.

NIT are changing journalism.

The early 21 century has proved perhaps the most significant period of change for journalists. The emergence of new information technologies has resulted in a changing role for journalists. As a result of rapid technological change, journalism as a profession has progressed. With the help of television, radio and the Internet, people are able to get fresh news at one time from the remote areas of the world. The cable viewers in Almaty today are able to see what happened in Washington, D.C., or Tokyo.
Journalism isn’t defined or devised by any specific rules. But there are different styles of journalism and different medium. In my opinion, blogging cannot be legitimately called journalism, as it mostly consists from opinion articles. The importance of the blogging is not necessarily whether it is journalism or not, but the effect how is it in journalism and how its effect on public and political opinion. As I know many international cooperations will monitor blogs see what people are saying about them.
“A friend of mine who works for the world economic summit was a subject of very serious blogging campaign,” said S4C journalist Tim Hartley, “after he had published his critical article on the Internet within an hour that story has gun through web-sites and blogs around the world. So he answered back a thousands of e-mails, because people had blog each other saying complain about this article”.
So the power of the blog is complain. Blogs are made journalism wealthier and richer.
“The other issue with the blogs is that many many politicians are now having blogs themselves. And this is a great source to know what their views on the whole host of issues”.
However asking people opinion, 60 blogs for and 40 blogs against, it is does not mean the public opinion it is simply mean the number of blogs. Moreover, in many countries not everybody has an access to the Internet.
Will blogs overtake journalism? No. I’ve already answer and left my comments to Anvar.
I do not think blogs will overtake journalism. Many journalists have blogs, journalists are paid by the company to have a blog, to write their thoughts, opinion and their will updated three or four times a day. The blogs and comments are addition to journalism.
“It is rather like saying will the paper of the international newspaper overtake the journalism. But the last pages are very interesting and very important, but we still have the newspaper and we still have articles written”.
Maybe the certain blogs are so interesting but people prefer to look at BBC and trust to National Business magazine.
Blogger sphere has made everybody journalist and publisher what we’ve seen is the declining in a sales of a traditional newspapers. However, if the number of people who are reading newspapers decreasing there is no end for them. Some people just like to feel newspapers.
There are only five media in which I could be trust; the person himself defines which four or five media to trust.

Soy's way to make her blog full of visitors:-)

Soy with her "Top 10 reasons why nobody reads your blog " resource, found a cool way how to make her blog full of visitors and comments;-) I liked this post very very much.

(just for fun:-) you may read: Who is BoRat? Is it ethical?

“Borat Sagdiev” is the most scandal satiric character of the Kazakh broadcast journalist. The character of the naive Kazakh broadcast journalist, which in a caricature way deride the Kazakh way of life, their culture and customs(!). Several times his performances arouse the painful reaction from the Kazakhstani Government. But who is BoRat? Does he exist?
“Borat” it is the most scandal invention of the British comedian, Sasha Baron Cohan. This parody figure is the author's property of the МTV. The television network several years broadcast it in a comic serial “Day Ali Dzhi Shou”. MTV represents “Borat” as the sixth most known person in Kazakhstan. “Borat Sagdiev” is not the first and last scandal invention, but exactly this character annoys our government and some analysts of the Mass culture. The name of “Borat” rarely appears in the Kazakstani press and some people even do not know that this character exists.
Actually Borat’s appearance is not similar to Kazakh, and his “Kazakh speech” full of Polish words,ha-ha:-). The character could be interesting only for narrow-minded person without any moral values. The way of his performance? Well, usually he asks questions to different people, but during the interview-draw speaks itself, libel Kazakhstan and its population. Also he enjoys (mentally sick person) to shock with his talent USA authorities.
For example he says: “We the Kazakhstani people like to kill the animals just for fun. It is so funny. When you kill the animal you can feel an incredible satisfaction. Also we like to shot the dogs, we enjoy that”. Or He says that in Kazakhstan the women are the last value after the God, man, horse and dog. Nonsense!!! And a lot of other rubbish.
The Authorities of the KZ says after investigation it was found that Sasha Cohan mentally ill. He is not related to KZ. Moreover, he has never been in Kazakhstan. That is way it will be foolish to give this case the worldwide significance. The KZ Government says, it is not a question to transform the business of the private person into the object of the state importance. People are different.

Fabricated “Borat Sagdiev” has unofficial site: Check it out!

The best advice on writing

“If you want to write, why don’t you?”
“I don’t have the talent.”
“How do you know?”
“I just know. I mean, I’m not especially creative. I was never, well, one of the creative ones. You know.”
“I don’t know. Let me see something you’ve written.”
“Well, I don’t, uh, have anything..”
“Why don’t you sit down and write something right now.”
“What?”
“Anyhting. Try a news story about a meeting you’ve just attended. Or just get something off your mind, something you’ve been thinking about, something that irritates you, an event or a person or place you keep remembering.”
“But I don’t know where to start. I don’t know how you do it. Writing’s a mystery to me.”

But writing isn’t a mistery. It is a process, a logical series of language acts than anyonewhocan write-- and read what they have written—can perform.

The best advice on writing: “Write what makes you happy.” (O. Henry)
